While it may not hold the title of the largest cruise ship afloat – a distinction that goes to the majestic Icon of the Seas – Harmony of the Seas proudly stood as the grandest vessel I’ve ever set sail on. With a capacity to welcome up to 6,687 guests, our voyage was buzzing with excitement, nearly at full capacity. Despite the bustling crowd, the experience was positive, a testament to the ship’s management.

Picture this: a heart-pounding descent down the Ultimate Abyss, a 10-story dry slide that promises an adrenaline rush like no other. Or perhaps you’d fancy gliding across an ice skating rink, nestled right onboard – just remember your pants and socks! For those seeking a bird’s eye view, the zip line over Central Park offers an exhilarating perspective, while rock climbers and surf enthusiasts will find their haven with the rock wall and the Flowrider surf simulator. Yet, with the large guest list, it’s wise to anticipate some waits and plan accordingly. Pro tip: visiting these attractions while in port could mean shorter lines and more fun in less time!

Entertainment onboard Harmony of the Seas is truly second to none. Royal Caribbean sets the bar high with an array of shows that dazzle and delight. From Broadway-style musicals and chuckle-inducing comedy to spellbinding ice skating performances and the awe-inspiring aquatheater shows, the ship offers unique spectacles not to be found with any other cruise line. Weather permitting, the aquatheater shows, with their breathtaking dives, are a must-see – so aim to book early. Thankfully, securing your spot at these shows is made easy with the ship’s app, allowing reservations from the 1st of the month preceding your voyage. And if you’re a bit late to the party, worry not. Upon boarding, a quick connection to the ship’s Wi-Fi or a visit to the ticket office should sort you out. Alternatively, you can always try to watch the shows in the standby line. Make sure to arrive about an hour early to have the best chance of getting in.

Dining aboard Harmony of the Seas is a journey of flavors, with each meal offering its own unique experience. Jamie’s Italian left an indelible mark with its exceptional culinary delights as our favorite restaurant. Although we missed out on some of the specialty dining spots known for their exquisite offerings, the overall dining experience was flawless, especially with dinner reservations ensuring a swift and satisfying service. Breakfast, however, was a different story, with the buffet lines stretching long due to the ship’s large company. Thankfully, alternative venues like Johnny Rockets provided a delicious escape from the morning rush.
The Ultimate Abyss on Harmony of the Seas
For those seeking an elevated experience, “The Key” VIP package is a golden ticket. On vessels as grand as Harmony of the Seas, or on itineraries featuring tender ports, this package is a game-changer. From priority embarkation and special meals to privileged seating at shows and exclusive activity times, “The Key” enhances every aspect of the cruising experience. It made our adventure smoother, allowing us to savor every moment – from prime seating at shows (arriving 15 minutes prior) to avoiding the lines during exclusive activity times to skipping the queues with priority disembarkation.
